Warren Luckner, FSA, MAAA, CFA
Short Biography: Warren Luckner is the David P. Hayes Memorial Chair in Actuarial Science, and Director of the Actuarial Science Program at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries, and a Chartered Financial Analyst, and a former Vice-President of the Society of Actuaries Board of Governors.
Warren began his actuarial career as an individual life insurance pricing actuary at Aid Association for Lutherans. After attaining his fellowship, Warren served on the faculty of the University of Nebraska - Lincoln Actuarial Science program for 9 years. He left Nebraska for the opportunity to serve on the staff of the Society of Actuaries. As a member of the SOA staff, he served in various education and research capacities for 14 years. Subsequently, he served as Associate Professor of Mathematics and Director of Actuarial Studies at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL.
In an effort to repair the damage done to the image of the Nebraska actuary by Jack Nicholson in the movie "About Schmidt", he returned as Director of the Actuarial Science program at Nebraska in the fall of 2003, and was named David P. Hayes Memorial Chair in Actuarial Science in April 2005. He's still working on the image task.
