Professional Integrity

Actuaries and actuarial candidates are required to adhere to a high standard of professional conduct by the American Academy of Actuaries, the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, the Casualty Actuarial Society and the Society of Actuaries. As an example, please note the following excerpts of professional and ethical standards taken from the Code of Professional Conduct, published by the American Academy of Actuaries on January 1, 2001.

Precept 1. An Actuary shall act honestly, with integrity and competence, and in a manner to fulfill the profession's responsibility to the public and to uphold the reputation of the actuarial profession.
